Social media right now is full of photos of children in their new backpacks, off to their first day of school for the school year. Meanwhile, Caleb and I are still in the school of waiting...
We do not have any children to drop off to school, to take out for a fun breakfast before that first day, to calm of any first day jitters, Here I sit in a house that still has bedrooms that remain empty with beds that have never been used. There are stuffed animals sitting in there that have never been played with. There are children's books that I have never got the chance yet to read to my children.
I trust in our great God who will bring our children home to us in His perfect timing. I pray in expectation of when I get to walk them to school and give them hugs and high fives to cheer them on for the first day back to school. I look forward to helping them get ready and making them pancakes if that's what they want for breakfast that morning. I look forward to being there as they come out of the school building after the first day and being able to talk with them about what made them happy while they were at school and if anything made them sad. I can't wait to ask them if they made any new friends and what were their names. All of this I look forward to, because I know this day will come. Our turn will come to be parents and to love on our kids.
As I sit here and I see people's posts of their children going back to school, I am reminded of our faithful God. I know that the empty beds and the stuffed animals and the books, they will all get to be used.
Meanwhile, we continue to wait...with no end of the waiting in sight, We know our God has already plowed the way ahead of us, we just have to trust Him and keep waiting and praying and believing for our children.
"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." - Psalm 27:14
Waiting with you, dear Caleb & Sarah. God is with us and for us.
